PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DVD video player by which the repetition of locking can be evaded. SOLUTION: The DVD video player has a DVD video reproducing engine 1, a reproduction parameter setting/extracting part 2, a periodic actuation timer 3, a reproduction state monitor part 4, a reproduction parameter storage part 5 which stores a reproduction position, a load frequency counter 6, and a control part 11 which saves information regarding the reproduction position in the reproduction parameter storage part 5 and initializes the load frequency counter 6 when reproduction is in progress, and refers to the load frequency counter 6 when the power source is turned on to interpret the contents of the reproduction parameter storage part 5 as ineffective contents when the value is 0 or continue the reproduction when the value is not 0.
