PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent flickering of an indication lamp occurring by a CPU runaway detection signal outputted for diagnostics. SOLUTION: The diagnostic system for a vehicle carries out an indication of diagnostics by operating a lamp in responsive to a CPU runaway detection signal WDA outputted from a micro-computer 2 for monitoring whether or not the micro-computer 1 for controlling runs away and is constituted such that the CPU runaway detection signal WDA is intentionally outputted before an execution of control by the micro-computer is started for the diagnostics. Until a lighting action for checking a lamp cut off is started after an ignition switch is switched from OFF to ON, a transistor 4A is turned ON to make the lamp 5 to a continuous lighting condition and that the lamp 5 is prevented from flickering at the time of checking of the lamp cut off.
