PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for updating the software of a portable telephone terminal from a software distribution center without user's operations. SOLUTION: In a request A, it is inquired whether software update may be performed from a software distribution center 2 to a portable telephone terminal 1 having a fault in existent software. Next, in a request B, the propriety of the software update is reported from the portable telephone terminal 1 to the software distribution center 2. When it is reported that the software updating is unallowable, the process returns to the request A. When it is reported that the software updating may be performed, the software distribution center 2 implements a request C.
