PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily specify an abnormality occurrence position in a network system. SOLUTION: Equipment participating in the network system executes broadcast transmission. As to equipment M1 and a duplex unit W for receiving data frames from communication lines L1, L2, whether data frames from respective pieces of equipment are received through the communication lines L1, L2 at each prescribed time or not is decided, address information expressing a physical address for specifying the equipment and line information expressing whether the data frames are received through the communication lines L1, L2 or not are generated and the duplex unit W informs the equipment M1 to be connected of these pieces of generated information. Each of the equipment M1, M2 generates a line management table T1 consisting of the address information and the line information and displays the table T1 on a display device. Thus an abnormality occurrence position can be easily specified by referring to construction information expressing the constitution of the network system and the line management table T1.
