PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic vending machine capable of selling articles to a customer using a non-contact IC card with a simple operation. SOLUTION: A card reader/writer, when detecting the non-contact IC card of a user, immediately starts communication, sending the electronic money information of the non-contact IC card to a control device of the automatic vending machine. The control device lights the lamps of the select buttons for purchasable articles on the basis of the electronic money information received. When the user selects a desired article, processing is implemented for subtracting the amount of the selected article from the balance amount of the electronic money in the non-contact IC card and for rewriting the non- contact IC card with new data, and the selected article is carried out from an article carrying-out means.
