PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an RMU 50 that remote-manages a local DPU 10 by means of a remote DPU 90. SOLUTION: The RMU 50 is coupled to the remote DPU 90 via network 100 external to the local DPU 10, is coupled to the local DPU 10 via an internal bus of the local DPU 10, and includes a data exchange interface 60 for providing data exchange between the local DPU 10 and a remote data carrier 110 coupled to the RMU 50 via the external network 100. The data exchange interface 60 is configured so as to cause the local DPU 10 to regard the data exchange interface 60 as representing or providing a standard interface of a data carrier type known by the local DPU 10, and as to provide data exchange of the RMU 50 with the remote data carrier 110 via the external network 100 for establishing data exchange between the local DPU 10 and the remote data carrier 110.
