PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily cut off image information recorded in an optional image recording area of an image recording carrier for processing and to transfer image recording area information and the image information according to a simple protocol. SOLUTION: Radiation image information depending upon radiation intensity is stored as 9-bit processing data B with a flag bit D8 added thereto in an image memory 72 through a CCD line sensor 40, an A/D converter 70 and a bit addition circuit 71. Meanwhile, a routine size determining part 80 determines a routine size for designating a recording area. A start point coordinate information writing part 84 and an end point coordinate information writing part 86 write flag data '1' in the flag bit D8 of image data corresponding to recording start point coordinate data D and recording end point coordinate data E from the recording start point coordinate data D and the recording end point coordinate data E of the routine size outputted from a routine size coordinate information storage part 82 in all image data of a maximum recording area D0 stored in the image memory 72 and transmit obtained image data F to an IIP 60 through an image data transmitting part 88.
