PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera formed in such a manner that a photographic lens can be set at a fixed focus position as adequate as possible by setting the photographic lens at the fixed focus position meeting the kinds of ranging errors and film sensitivity in case of the occurrence of the ranging errors. SOLUTION: When AF preliminary light emission is performed in measuring an object distance, the photographic lens is set at an infinite position in case of the occurrence of the ranging errors by the insufficiency of signal quantities in all of the ranging areas. In case of the occurrence of the ranging errors exclusive of the insufficiency of the signal quantities in part of the ranging areas, the photographic lens is set at the fixed focus position meeting the film sensitivity.
