摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calibrate a compact optical sensor system to be used in a hardcopy device for scanning, printing an image. SOLUTION: In the compact optical sensor system 100, several light emitting diodes (LEDs) illuminate a sheet of print media, and the light reflected from the sheet is received by one or more photodiodes. The photodiode generates signals in response to the light received, and the hardcopy device uses these signals to adjust printing parameters for optimal print quality. A calibration system 300 uses a white target covered for cleanliness by a spring cover door to be opened and closed by a printhead carriage 320. Consequently, calibration processes with high accuracy to be actively generated over time can easily and economically be provided in comparatively dirty environment of an inkjet printer.
