<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method in which a variable density fringe image caused by multiple reflection in a photoreceptor by coherent light is not found. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming method, an image is formed by uniformly electrifying a latent image carrier with an electrifier arranged via a space of 0 to 100 μm from the surface of the latent image carrier and outputting writing light having a wavelength of λ(nm) and a spot diameter of ϕ (μm) for forming the image. The latent image carrier is the photoreceptor at least provided with a single photoreceptive layer or a stacked photoreceptive layer provided with a charge generating layer and a charge transporting layer in this order on a conductive substrate. Both of the minimum value (R1) of maximum height when sampling the substantially identical reference length ϕ as the spot diameter of the writing light in an optional place from the cross-sectional curve of the surface of the photoreceptor in an image forming area and the minimum value (R2) of the maximum height when sampling the reference length ϕ in the optional place from the cross-sectional curve of the substrate side boundary of the photoreceptor in the image forming area are ≤λ/(2n), and (R1+R2) is ≥λ/(2n) (n: the refractive index of the single photoreceptive layer or the charge transporting layer at the wavelength λ (nm) of the writing light). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
