摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light signal separating device which uses a light source with wide pulse width enough to require no mode lock laser and eliminates the need for an optical modulator. <P>SOLUTION: A Mach-Zehnder interferometer type wavelength converting element 1300 is interposed off the center position of a looped waveguide 1200 having both its ends connected to an optical multiplexer demultiplexer 1100 to constitute a Sagnac type wavelength converting device. A light signal S1 is converted by a wavelength converting element 1300 into a wavelength- converted light signal S2, and which is outputted. Only when clock light CL is inputted to the wavelength converting element 1300, the wavelength-converted signal S2 is outputted from ports P6 and P3 to enter the looped waveguide 1200. The wavelength-converted signal light S2 entering the looped waveguide 1200 has its pulse width narrowed down to 10 ps with the window time of the Sagnac type wavelength converting device and is outputted from a port P12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
