<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) cell communication system capable of preventing the reduction of ATM cell transmitting/receiving efficiency by reducing the number of polling addresses to the minimum number of addresses in the case of a system increasing/reducing PHY (physical layer protocol) layer devices dependent on an ATM layer device. <P>SOLUTION: When a slave 112<SB>1</SB>is newly loaded or deleted, a reset monitoring part 123 in the slave supplies a reset signal 124 to a status change monitor and control part 122, which informs a master 111 of the slave as a PInt* signal. The master 111 successively specifies addresses to all slaves on the basis of the PInt* signal to request responses from all the slaves and grasps slave responding to the request as dependent slaves. Since the master 111 polles only the dependent slaves and transmits/receives ATM cells to the polled slaves, wasteful address specification in polling can be evaded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
