PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lid fitting device for a cup type automatic vending machine, capable of appropriately setting a row of lids in a lid separation device when switching the row of lids, and thus capable of securely separating only the lid to be fitted even after switching the row of lids. SOLUTION: The lid fitting device comprises a base plate 24 having a lid taking-out hole 24a, a lid storing container 22 freely rotating on the base plate 24 so that one of a plurality of storage drums 26 may be positioned over the lid taking-out hole 24a, a lid separator 41 provided under the lid taking-out hole 24a in the base plate 24, a stocker drive mechanism 23 driving the lid storing container 22 so that the storage drum 26 storing another row of lids may come to a position over the lid taking-out hole 24a when the row of lids set in the lid separator 41 are switched to the other row of lids, and a lid taking-out machine 54 transferring the other row of lids moved to a position over the lid taking-out hole 24a to the lid separator 41.
