PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcasting system capable of reliably ensuring a replacement packet that can be replaced with an SIT packet.

SOLUTION: This reception system 3 is provided with a receiving part 13 for receiving a transport stream multiplexed with program contents and electronic program guide information, a PID designating part 28 for designating a PID of a packet except a NIT packet in the electronic program guide information as a replacement PID, replacement PID storage devices 17 and 24, a SIT generation processing part 21, and a packet extracting and replacing part 26 capable of replacing the replacement packet and the NIT packet with the SIT packet.
