PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyamide fiber having excellent chemical resistance and abrasion resistance. SOLUTION: The method is for improving the chemical resistance and abrasion resistance of a semi-aromatic polyamide fiber comprising nonane diamine and terephthalic acid. The semi-aromatic polyamide fiber is thermally treated in a range from 120°C to the melting point of the polyamide in nitrogen containing oxygen in a small amount of 0.01 to 5% for 5 min to 100 hr.
