<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image retrieving device and an image retrieving method provided with an image retrieving screen capable of retrieving a desired data efficiently out of a plurality of image data added with a time data. <P>SOLUTION: Time axes for a plurality of different time scales, and a thumb- nail image sequence are displayed in the image retrieving screen. A user retrieves the desired image data out of the thumb-nail image sequence updated while interlocked to shift of the time axes, by selecting one out of the plurality of time axes and by shifting the time axis to the past or the future.
