<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the soiling of an output image and the wasteful use of particles necessary for image forming caused by excessive discharge of particles from an electrifier to an image carrier when a change occurs in the surface potential of the image carrier in an image forming apparatus provided with the electrifier having an electrifying member rotated in a counter direction to the image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: At least, tB [s] after the part of the image carrier whose surface potential is changed passes an electrifying part and passes the center of a developing part, voltage by which the particles are recovered to a developing unit is applied to the developing unit. Then, the relation of tB=(necessary time in the case of making one round around the image carrier by bypassing the surface of the electrifying member)-(necessary time in the case of making one round around the image carrier without bypassing the surface of the electrifying member) is satisfied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
