<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a patterning method of an organic EL medium, which is not accompanied by the restriction imposed by a photolithography method or a shadow mask method in common use. <P>SOLUTION: (a) A first electrode is arranged on a base plate for display, and (b) a donor element composed of a donor supporting body, a radiation absorbing layer, and an organic layer is prepared, and (c) a spacer element as an individual element or as a part of the donor element or the base plate for display is prepared, and (d) the donor element is arranged so as to form a transfered relation with the base plate for display having an arrangement pattern of the first electrode, and so that the donor element and the base plate for display engage with the spacer element, and (e) a laser beam, having a desired spot size and an output sufficient for transfering a specified part of the organic layer from the donor element to a specified area corresponding to pixels on the base plate for display, is focused on a radiant ray absorption layer of the donor element, and scanned, and (f) a second electrode is formed on an organic part transfered on the base plate for display. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
