<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve learning efficiency by comparing the pronunciation of the role selected by a learner with reference data and displaying it as a score according to the matching degree and automatically displaying the next suitable picture in accordance with the score. <P>SOLUTION: With the language learning apparatus, a learner selects a situation or a role in a situation by executing a program loaded with reproduction data of a storage medium transferred from a player. The selected situation is displayed on a display, and the speech of another speaker in the situation is outputted from a loudspeaker. The learner's speech corresponding to the role of the speaker selected by the learner is transferred through a microphone and compared with the reference data loaded from the storage medium.
