PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera capable of more suitably evaluating a kind of an object so as to apply optimum gradation conversion to an image. SOLUTION: The electronic camera is provided with a luminance histogram generating means (corresponding to a step S1) for generating a luminance histogram of an image acquired by an imaging element and a setting means (corresponding to a step S2) for setting a gradation conversion characteristic for gradation conversion to be applied to image data on the basis of the generated luminance histogram. The type of the object can more properly be evaluated than that of a conventional electronic camera on the basis of the luminance histogram. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
