PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which makes a transmission illumination system obtainable with the dial plate of a black ground in a display device which can change over the colors of a dial plate during non-illuminating and during illuminating. SOLUTION: This display device is obtained by forming an illuminator 11 which emits light and black color layers 102 which are arranged on the front surface of the illuminator 11, are turned black in the put out state of the illuminator 11 and allow the transmission of the light emitted from the illuminator 11 through the front of a display plate 12 in the lighting state of the illuminator 11 on the display plate 12.
