<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neon transformer of which, the power factor in the state that the connected load is 40-100% of the maximum length of a lighting tube, becomes not less than 85%. <P>SOLUTION: A power factor improving capacitor 1 is connected in parallel with a primary side coil 2 of the neon transformer through a capacitor coil 4 as a third coil between both terminals of the primary side coil. The current flowing through the capacitor coil 4 is determined by the formula; Ic=2πfCV, where, C represents the capacitance of the capacitor 1, V represents the voltage impressed to the capacitor 1. Accordingly, the current flowing through the capacitor coil 4 increases and the power factor of the neon transformer is improved by increasing the capacitance C or the impressed voltage V of the capacitor 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
