PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cogging in a brushless motor using radially oriented ferrite segment magnets. SOLUTION: In the inner rotor-type brushless motor for electric power- assisted power steering, radially oriented ferrite segment magnets are used for rotor magnets 2. The spacing A between the adjacent rotor magnets 2 is so set that A is equal to (the outermost diameter radius of the rotor magnet 2 in the rotor 3)×2×α/(number of pole pairs), where 0<α≤0.22. The deflection B of the rotor magnet 2 at the magnet end is set so that B is equal to (the outermost diameter radius of the rotor magnet 2 in the rotor 3)×2×β/(number of pole pairs), where 0.01≤β≤0.5.
