PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the color reproducibility of a reproduced image further while effectively restraining the entire image forming apparatus from getting larger. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus equipped with an intermediate transfer belt 2, at least a bend member 5 is arranged to come into contact on the outside of the intermediate transfer belt 2 positioned between a pair of adjacent tensioning and laying rolls 3, and an outside bend recessed part 6 bending toward more inside than a tangent linking the ends of the outer peripheries of a pair of rolls 3 is formed on the belt 2 arranged to be bent by the member 5 and the rolls 3 adjacent to the member 5, and an image- forming unit 1 (1e) is disposed in the recessed part 6. Then, the image-forming units 1 of five or more colors are disposed over two or more surfaces around the belt 2 or the units 1 of five or more colors including an ink jet type image- forming unit 1 are disposed along one surface of the belt 2.
