PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally developable photosensitive material having high sensitivity, sufficiently high maximum density, good raw stock preservability and improved fog in storage after thermal development. SOLUTION: In the thermally developable photosensitive material containing a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a thermal developer and a binder on a support, 1) the proportion of silver iodide in the photosensitive silver halide is 40-100 mol%, 2) the photosensitive silver halide contains a metal selected from the groups 3-10 elements of a periodic table of the elements and 3) an organic polyhalogen compound is contained.
