PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent a clutch mechanism such as a planetary gear mechanism from being undesirably switched in replacing a film and in the midst of a manual rewinding operation. SOLUTION: As to the film rewinder capable of performing a manual rewinding action of rewinding the film into a cartridge with the rotation of a rewinding fork 3 by rotating the operating member 1, and a motor-driven rewinding action of rewinding the film into the cartridge by rotating the rewinding fork by the driving force of a rewinding motor, the rewinder is provided with the clutch mechanism PGM for performing the switching of the motor-driven rewinding state where the driving force of the rewinding motor is transmitted to the rewinding fork 3 and the manual rewinding state where the driving force of the motor is interrupted from being transmitted to the rewinding fork 3, and a locking/releasing device (4 to 6, 16, 17 and 51, etc.), for locking the clutching mechanism PGM in the manual rewinding state in accordance with an operation of unloading the cartridge, and releasing the locked state and making the clutch mechanism PGM in the motor-driven rewinding state in response to the command of motor-driven rewinding.
