PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber fixing device that enables an optical fiber to be mounted with high precision, and also to provide a method for manufacturing the device with high efficiency. SOLUTION: The device is formed with an optical fiber fixing groove 2 on a silicon substrate 1, and is also equipped with nearly rectangular size- measuring grooves 4 which are formed on the side of the optical fiber fixing groove 2 and at a prescribed distance b away from the groove 2.
