PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that a conventional remote control method for electric appliances via the Internet is susceptible to an attack by unauthorized access, especially, the electrical home appliances easily become to be unable to be controlled because of less memory capacity, that countermeasures by using a private line for control incur high costs for installation or maintenance of the private line, and that the appliances cannot be controlled if they are not connected to the private line. SOLUTION: A first network for connecting only the specified appliances, a second network for connecting unspecified appliances, and a third network for connecting the appliances to be controlled are connected by a gateway apparatus for independently processing the communications between the first and third networks and between the second and third networks, and a device for issuing an instruction to control the appliances of the third network is connected to the first and second networks. With this constitution, the third network can be controlled from both the first and second networks, and the appliances of the third network can be controlled from the first network even if they cannot not controlled from the second network.
