PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system and an accessory device capable of discriminating whether the attached camera accessory is the exclusively designed one or not when the camera accessory is attached to the camera main body. SOLUTION: The camera body 1 and an interchangeable lens 2 have an identification data table in common. When an instruction of an optional data address is given to the interchangeable lens 2 by the camera body 1, the identification data stored in an identification data storage part 22 is transmitted from the interchangeable lens 2 to the camera body 1 in accordance with the instructed address. Then on the camera body 1 side, the returned identification data is compared with the identification data stored in the identification data storage part 13 on the camera body 1 side and corresponding to the aforesaid address by the identification data discrimination part 14.
