The present application concerns the cloning of a gene encoding a human prolylhydroxylase like protein. Human prolylhydroxylase gene products can play a role in preventing, ameliorating, or correcting dysfunctions or diseases including, but not limited to, cancer, cardiovascular disorders, COPD, asthma, genitourinary disorders, and CNS disorders.
