摘要 The present invention provides a cutting tool composed of a carbonitride-type cermet having excellent wear resistance, characterized by having a microstructure comprising a homogeneous (Ti,W,Nb/Ta)CN phase (1), the grains of which have grown in the shape of a cashew nut; and a Co-Ni alloy binder phase (3) which is present as a dispersed phase between the grains of said homogeneous (Ti,W,Nb/Ta)CN phase. According to the present invention, the cermet tools to be manufactured can exhibit more excellent wear resistance for a long time even in high-speed cuttings as well as ordinary cuttings as compared with the conventional cermet tools, and therefore, they can sufficiently satisfy demands for labor saving and energy saving, and further, factory automation systemizing, in relation to cutting work. <IMAGE>
