COSMETIC COMPOSITION FOR PREVENTING SKIN AGING

PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition including L-carnitine exhibiting specific inhibiting effect against MMP-1 as a collagenase and MMP-2 as a gelatinase induced by irradiating with ultraviolet light and Ephedra distachya extract exhibiting collagen type IV synthesis promoting effect on human fibroblast is provided. Therefore, the composition improves wrinkles and the elasticity of skin. CONSTITUTION: The cosmetic composition contains 0.001 to 10% by weight of L-carnitine and 0.001 to 20.0% by weight of Ephedra distachya extract, based on the total weight of the composition. For an example, 0.05g polypyrrolidone, 0.1g oleyl alcohol, 0.2g polyoxymethylene monooleate, 0.2g fragrance, 0.1g p-oxybenzoic acid methyl ester and a small amount of an antioxidant and a pigment are dissolved in 8g ethanol. Thereafter, 0.1g Ephedra distachya extract, 0.1g L-carnitine and 5g glycerine are dissolved in a suitable amount of purified water and then mixed with the obtained mixture and then agitated to produce a lotion containing Ephedra distachya extract and L-carnitine.
