<p>The invention relates to the development of cold-curing acrylic formulations for use in bone cement precursor compositions having low toxicity and good biocompatibility. In recent decades, polymeric bone cements have been used as media for the controlled release of medicaments and, in orthopaedic surgery and traumatology, for fixing joint prostheses, the bone cement serving to immobilise the prosthesis. However, certain adverse reactions which are caused by the cement have been observed in the medium and long term, said reactions being connected primarily to the chemical composition of the cement and/or the physical properties thereof.</p> |
