<p>Fiber composite ceramic material comprises (a) a close-textured (non)woven fabric of 3-dimensional fibers with high thermal conductivity, (b) a crystalline matrix of beta-silicon carbide (I), produced on the fibers by CVI (gas phase infiltration); (c) a (I) matrix fraction produced in the fabric pores by infiltration with SiC powder suspended in polymer and pyrolysis; and (d) another (I) matrix fraction formed in the fissures and pores resulting from pyrolysis. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Production of the material using a gradient process for CVI deposition; (2) Production of the material by the action of a SiC precursors in a suitable carrier gas at a process pressure at least 0.6 bar absolute and process temperature at least 1100 degrees C for CVI deposition.</p> |
