<p>The invention relates to an airbag consisting of an upper panel and a lower panel, which are connected by means of a peripheral seam, and comprising a support band which is divided into two parts by means of linear cuts. The edges of the aforementioned parts are connected to different areas of the bag such that, when the bag is inflated, the support band tears along the tear lines which extend from the cut lines that divide the band in two. Said support bands operate by means of shearing and, as a result, the airbag adapts to the pressure exerted by the body of the occupant on the airbag; gradually tearing the support bands and producing a controlled pressure which improves the deceleration of the occupant. The inventive airbag is provided with high adaptability in relation to the type of occupant and the force of impact.</p> |
