To cut out a card a punch (4) is applied against a sheet of material, e.g. plastic card, against a cutting tool (7) and the resultant blank (15) is ejected by compressed air through a duct (10) into a receptacle (11). To assist in the ejection process a bolt ram (12) is provided operated by the compressed air supply (14).
