Intelligent Negotiation Agents (INAs) (1085,1090,1080) are described in a demand-initiated distributed multi-agent system in which a buyer agent negociates with at least two seller agents. INAs are autonomous intelligent software agents that adapt negociation parameters for the acquisition of products, services and multi-item bundles by applying artificial intelligence technologies. Services, including marketing promotions, risk management options (1020) and made-to-order services, are integrated into this system. Buyer-side aggregation occurs by pooling cooperative INAs (c-INAs). Dynamic INAs operate as double agents that alternate roles between buyer and seller to allow arbitrage functions. Collaboration processes (1035) facilitate multilateral requests that are customized. Such data interaction precedes automated negotiation (1065, 1070). An industry-specific distributed network of cooperative showcase databases is described in which data is constantly updated, analyzed and cleansed by showcase inter-agents (1015,1050,1040). Commercial search agents (1060) (CSAs) make item requests for a buyer's first query in a CCN. Analytical agents (AAs) (1010, 1013, 1095, 1100) mine date. Agents may be mobile.
