A synthesiser comprises a detector for detecting a parameter difference, a voltage controlled oscillator, at least one capacitor having one end connected to a node between the detector and the voltage controlled oscillator and means connected to an other end of the at least one capacitor for providing an electrical response in dependence on the detected parameter difference.
