Provided are compositions and methods for the prevention and treatment of mammalian disorders that are ameliorated by modulation of effects on phagocy te and lymphoid cell populations and T-cell immune response cDNA 7 (TIRC7) activity in certain cells. Furthermore, improved methods for the production of immunoglobulins to a desired antigen are described. This invention is based on the discovery of a mechanism for the regulation of phagocytosis and the response of lymphoid cell populations to antigens.
