OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING DEFECT AREA

PURPOSE: An optical recording medium and a method for managing a defect area are provided to prevent an error generated by not knowing position information of a skipped block. CONSTITUTION: Data is inputted through an interface from a host(601). It is judged whether the data is PC-data or data for real time(602). In the case of the PC-data, information related to a defect block is stored in an SDL(Secondary Defect List) entry(603). In the case of data for real time, the data is recorded in an optical disk(604). If the defect block exists, the data is recorded in the next normal block, skipping the defect block(605-606). Position information related to the skipped block is stored, separately from information of the defect area generated in a linear replacing method(607). A microcomputer sends the position information of the defect block to the host(608). After completing recording of the data for real time, a command execution list is transmitted to the host(609).
