Control of melt-processing of self-consuming electrodes. The process depends on the actual wt. of the electrode and on the electrical conditions between the electrode and the surface of the melt-bath. The weight of the electrode in relation to lime is represented as a pre-determined function of a first signal that is continuously compared with a second signal corresponding to the actual weight of the electrode. The furnace power supply is operated in relation to the difference between the signals via a control unit. |
