[Also in Division G2] Resin-free pigment images on a substrate are formed by forming a pigmented resin toner image on the substrate and removing the resin with a solvent. The toner image may be formed on the substrate by electrostatic transfer from a developed xerographic plate (e.g. on to aluminized polyethylene terephthalate), by electrostatically charging through a stencil, a layer of toner on the substrate and then removing the uncharged toner, applying toner through a stencil to a substrate coated with a tacky material, or by uniformly dusting a substrate having a coating of tacky material in an imagewise configuration and removing the toner from the non-image areas. The imaged substrate may be fixed and used as a printing plate. |
