A bicycle frame (1) includes a first rigid member (2) with means for mounting a rear wheel (18) and a front wheel assembly thereto. A second rigid member (7) having means for mounting a seat post (12) and pedals (13) thereto is also provided. The second member is not connected directly to the first member but rather is linked by pivotable linkage (5, 9) to the first member. A shock absorber (14) is preferably pivotably located between mounting points (15, 16) on the first and second rigid members. In a preferred embodiment a number of shock absorber mounting points are provided on the first member and first link in order to obtain an optimal shock absorber mounting position.
