A transparent screen having an excellent contrast and high-quality video. The transparent screen includes a lenticular lens arranged at the incident side and capable of refracting the projected light into vertical direction, a black stripe arranged at a portion of the lenticular lens near the focal point where the projected light does not pass, and a vertical lenticular lens sheet having a flat surface at the observer side and arranged at the observer side. A rear projection image display apparatus having the transparent screen is also disclosed.
