A carbon black for conductive thermoplastic resin used as conductivity providing agent for thermoplastic resin and capable of providing a high conductivity by adding an amount less than that of a conventional one and capable of manufacturing a conductive thermoplastic resin with less variation in conductivity and a highly conductive thermoplastic resin composition containing the carbon black, wherein a micro pore width where a micro pore volume led from the relative curve of the micro pore volume and the micro pore width is maximum is within the range of 4.0 to 8.0 Å, and the maximum value of the micro pore volume is 0.060 to 0.135 ml/Å/g the conductive thermoplastic resin composition containing the carbon black is less in variation of conductivity and high in conductivity.
