A textile fibre opening cylinder has a feed table (6) which surrenders a continuous supply of fibres via a nip-gap (9) to the opening cylinder (5). The feed table (6) esp. has a concave surface and the width (a) of the nip-gap (9) is adjustable. The table convex radius is less than that of the feed nip-roller (3). The nip gap (9) is varied as required by rise and fall of the feed table (6) on a pivoting (7) arm. The feed table is detachable from the arm. The distance (a) between the nip (9) and the opening cylinder (4) is adjusted by a change in position or shape of the lower fibre guide (12) rim (13).
