The process described in FR 1574087 in which a number of small vulcanized elastomeric sheets are joined by their longitudinal edges which have previously been treated with self-adhesive strips, is improved by treating and uniting the sheets before vulcanization so that subsequent treatment improves the bond. The strips may be protected during vulcanization by thin ribbons of material to prevent them adhering. The sheet may be prevented from adhering by interposing a layer of fabric or treating the surface with talc. Joining the sheets before vulcanization improves the bond. |
