The open fronted baking oven (3) muffle (5) is closed by a baking oven door (17) with a front plate (19). A thermal seal (23) positioned between a muffle flange (7) and an inner side of the baking oven door, encloses the opening in the baking oven muffle when the door is closed. An extra thermal seal (25) is attached to the muffle flange over at least part of the height of the muffle flange, and outside the thermal seal to the side. The extra seal is less spaced apart from the front plate of the baking oven door than the thermal seal. The extra seal (31) is separated from the first thermal seal by an air-duct extending over the depth of the door base (21).
