<p>A pump (30) for pumping water, other liquids, or slurry mixes is described and includes an electric motor (32) or the like positioned above the water to be pumped which has a rotatable pump shaft (36) extending downwardly therefrom which has a drive line shaft (40) connected thereto and which extends downwardly therefrom through a casing (48). A pump (30) is secured to the lower end of the casing (48) and includes a plurality of vertically spaced-apart pump impellers (66) mounted on a pump shaft (60) which rotate with the drive line shaft (40). A discharge line (70) extends from the lower end of the pump (30) to a location remote from the pump (30). Water inlets (50) are provided in the casing (48) below the water line (so that operation of the pump (30) by the electric motor (32) will cause water to be sucked into the interior of the casing (48) and to be drawn into the interior of the pump (30) for discharge from the lower end of the pump (30).</p> |
