PURPOSE: A method for controlling laser power of an optical disk device is provided to simply and promptly adjust laser power without using an extra laser power meter and accurately adjust the laser power. CONSTITUTION: An optical disk is loaded(S10). A microcomputer executes OPC(Optimum Power Control) for measuring beta values(S11). The microcomputer obtains a relational expression between each laser power and the measured beta values(S12). In a state that the microcomputer memorizes the relational expression, the same optical disk as the optical disk is loaded(S20). The microcomputer executes OPC for measuring beta values and detecting the optimum writing laser power(S21). The microcomputer replaces the measured beta values for the relational expression to obtain a writing laser power corresponding to a reference voltage(S22). The microcomputer applies the reference voltage to a D/A(Digital to Analog) converter to adjust the writing laser power into the optimum writing laser power appropriate for the loaded optical disk(S23). |
